Do Something !

The world is falling apart. The fabric of society appears to be wasting away every day. Virtues are long forgotten and evil is now not only normal but classy. Failure and confusion are glorified and rewarded. Light is seemingly swallowed up by darkness.

Every inch of what used to be normal is now labelled abnormal and vice versa. The world is flipped on its head.

Believers who are paying attention are abhorred by this filthy exalted rot. Some are complaining about the state of matters. Always pointing out how lost the world is. There is no error in all this.

Recently I heard some believers complaining about the political landscape. How that every leader is corrupt and so is every other option we could elect in. They said that our nation ought to be headed in a different direction. Over time they have gotten demoralised and are convinced they cannot do anything to change this situation. They clamoured on about how the leadership is to blame. They pointed fingers at the church and political leaders.

The statement was “our leaders are to blame for this deterioration and all this immorality”. This caught my attention. It may sound right but it is awfully wrong. It can’t get worse than this.

We have forgotten that these leaders are a product of society. Society in turn is a group of families. Families are made up of individuals. I know it looks oversimplified but consider it. Where did that corrupt leader come from? Did they fall from the sky? Did they absorb these abhorrent characteristics from space? Of course not. These people were brought up by certain parents and have been influenced by other individuals growing up. They possibly had a Christian neighbour. Imagine what society would be like if the majority of these influences were positive.

The failure is on the part of the church and the family or rather it is on individuals. A son is born, raised without the Word by unintentional parents, is never taught the Word, their neighbour from church does nothing about it, he doesn’t witness to this young man, no one shares Jesus’ Love and the Gospel with the family. Corruption starts and no one ever presents an alternative until it’s too late. Then the blame game begins.

The church moulds society, if society is broken, the Church has failed.

Talk is cheap. Do something about it. Complaining is too convenient.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ~ Mat 5:16 KJV

Live the talk. Let your life exude with the values of the Word. Let your light so shine. Share the Gospel with at least one person, mentor someone, disciple someone. If everyone does this, society will change.

How did Society become so evil? one person at a time. The rule stands also for reversing this effect of an ineffective Church.

But there’s hope. Our predecessors changed the entire world the same way, one person at a time. Instead of complaining do something to better the situation. Be that city set on a hill. Dare to be different. If you’re a parent, teach your child to be the future leader with the values you want to see in society. Let them see it in you, produce that godly president, that godly CEO and so forth. Train them in the way of the Lord.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. ~ Pro 22:6 KJV

Don’t just bow and pray. What must be done must be done. Prayer isn’t a shortcut, do something. Make that desirable leader or be one. Final.
